Immersive Design Labs Appoints Alex Oana as West Coast Sales Representative
Minneapolis, MN, January 16, 2026 — Immersive Design Labs (IDL) has appointed Alex Oana as West Coast Sales Representative, expanding the company’s presence in the Los Angeles and broader West Coast professional audio community.
Oana is widely recognized as the founder of Audio Test Kitchen and as a live and studio engineer with decades of experience working across audio technology, professional recording, and product education. In his new role, Oana will introduce artists, engineers, and students to immersive sound capture workflows, focusing on recording immersive audio from the ground up. Through hands-on demonstrations, recording sessions, and educational events, he will work directly within recording studios and classrooms to support broader adoption of immersive capture workflows.
Immersive Design Labs’ 7.0.4 Immersive Array is designed as a creative tool for immersive audio capture, using a system of 11 matching omnidirectional microphones arranged within an adjustable mounting array. Oana’s involvement with IDL began after producing a song using the array—an experience that reshaped his perspective.
“The first time I heard playback from the IDL array over a 7.1.4 system was transformative,” says Oana. “I immediately recognized it as something new. It felt like standing inside a three-dimensional window into the recording space. All of a sudden, I could see an entirely new way to capture sound for both immersive and stereo recording.”
When monitored over an immersive speaker system, the linear frequency and phase response of the array’s microphones, combined with its one-to-one microphone-to-speaker relationship, produces a coherent three-dimensional sound field, according to Immersive Design Labs.
“People simply haven’t heard recordings like this before,” Oana adds. “It’s a simple yet elegant concept, but the result is profound.”
